This episode is the kick-off for a series on optimizing the loading speed of WordPress. I want to help you make your WordPress site faster, and I’ll use my personal site as example on how to work on your page load time.
Measuring your page load time is important, because it shows you how to make your website load faster. The tools I’m going to share with you will give you detailed insights on what slows down your website and how to improve the loading speed.
KISSmetrics has created an infographic on the importance of a fast website, showing that the page load time is crucial for any kind of online business.
Let me list only a few of their key takeaways:
Bounce rate increases massively after 4 seconds
89% of users expect websites to load almost equally fast on mobiles and desktops
1 second delay can reduce conversion by 7%
These are pretty serious aspects if you ask me.
The loading speed of a website is determined by countless factors. We can’t influence some of them, e.g. the Internet connections of our visitors.
However, we can optimize quite a lot of those factors, and that’s why I’ve decided to create a video series on this topic. If you want to stay updated when I release a new video, I highly recommend you subscribe to my mailing list or to my Youtube channel.
In this first episode, I’ll share 3 free tools that you can use to test your own website.
The tools I’m showcasing in the episode are:
I’d vote for using all three of those, because their results will vary and they deliver different information on your site. If you’re not sure how to use them, you’ll find the tutorials in this episode.
